Canon grows footprint with acquisition of regional distributor

A longtime distributor and servicer of Canon medical imaging equipment is being acquired by Canon Medical Systems USA.

NXC Imaging of Minneapolis, in business since 1964, will bolster Canon’s sales and service of CT, PET, MRI, X-ray, vascular imaging and ultrasound systems throughout the Upper Midwest, according to a Canon news release.

The companies expect the deal to close this year.

Yuji Hamada, president and CEO of Canon Medical Systems USA, based in Tustin, Calif., notes the companies have been working together for more than 33 years.

“Our successful partnership has thrived due to Canon’s innovative technology and trusting collaboration with NXC’s entrepreneurial company culture,” Hamada says.

NXC president and CEO Bruce Zeilinger adds that, as a part of Canon Medical, his company will continue to provide the Upper Midwest region “with the same ‘never ordinary’ customer service we are known for.”

Canon Medical Systems USA’s parent company, Canon Inc., is headquartered in Tokyo.
