Siemens Healthineers has successfully integrated image-reconstruction software developed by a U.S. healthcare AI startup to increase sharpness and decrease noise in MR images captured during fast scanning sequences.
In an announcement sent July 13, Menlo Park, Calif.-based Subtle Medical says end users will access the post-processing toolkit on the scanner console via Siemens’s new Open Recon interface.
Called SubtleMR, the package is designed to work with major MR contrast settings on numerous Siemens scanners and can support the majority MRI procedures.
Subtle first announced its partnership with Siemens last November at RSNA. The company notes that, as of this summer, the product is still a work in progress and as such is not yet commercially available.
Subtle’s chief product officer, Ajit Shankaranarayanan, PhD, points out that the company is “the first AI technology company Siemens Healthineers has entrusted” to integrate with the Open Recon interface.
“This milestone marks how powerful collaborations are between AI innovators and scanner manufacturers in order to provide the most robust imaging solutions to providers and the best care possible to patients worldwide,” he adds.
