Radiology Business Management Association names annual award winners, new board

The Radiology Business Management Association recently named its new board of directors and annual award winners at the organization’s annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

Sara Nofziger-Drew, VP of revenue cycle services for R1 RCM, took home the top honor, the prestigious Calhoun Award. Named after Joseph D. Calhoun—an MD who guided the first RBMA steering committee in 1968—the award honors “outstanding” contributions to radiology business management and the association.

Nofziger-Drew was noted for her decade of volunteerism, serving as chair of the RBMA Membership Committee and member of the Federal Affairs, Fellowship Selection and Executive Search committees. She’s also the RBMA liaison to the Healthcare Business Management Association and is based in Portland, Oregon, according to her LinkedIn profile

Here is the rundown of the association’s other major award winners for 2025, pulled from this April 7 announcement

  • Christopher “Kit” Crancer, with Rayus Radiology, St. Louis Park, Minnesota, received the RBMA President’s Award, given annually to a member who went “above and beyond to promote an atmosphere that enhances networking and progress through sharing.”
  • Christina Negron, business office manager with IntelliRad Imaging, Miami, took home the Young Professional Award. RBMA launched the designation to recognize members who have worked to expand the organization’s visibility among the next generation.

This year’s winners were Terry Corgan, MSN Healthcare Solutions, Columbus, Georgia; Nicole Jones-Gerbino, PBS Radiology Business Experts, Reno, Nevada; and Schaeffer Smith, MHA, Comprehensive Radiology Services, Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

New RBMA board

The Radiology Business Management Association also announced its newly elected board of directors and officers for 2025-2026. Since its founding in 1968, RBMA members have voted each year to elect an all-volunteer board from among their peers.

Jamie Dyer, MBA, will serve as president, succeeding Peter Moffatt. She is the chief outpatient operations officer at Central Oregon Radiology Associates in Bend, Oregon.

“I am deeply honored to serve as the RBMA president and pledge to lead with integrity, build community, and further our collective vision," Dyer said in an April 3 announcement from the association. “I will work tirelessly to ensure every member’s voice is heard as we forge a bright future for RBMA.”

Moffatt, president of Reasint, will continue serving the association as immediate past president. Meanwhile, Stacy Sanso, director of patient access with ARA Diagnostic Imaging, Austin, Texas, is the new president-elect. Steve Kahn, general partner at pHY Consultants, will continue as treasurer, while Schaeffer Smith, MPH, is the RBMA secretary/parliamentarian. He is the VP of finance and operations for Comprehensive Radiology Services.

Five new directors join the board this year. They include:

  • Danny de la Torre, CEO of Southwest Diagnostic Imaging Center, Dallas, Texas.
  • Karen Girven, CEO of River Radiology, Kingston, New York.
  • Thomas Marshall, MBA, chief marketing and business development officer, Chesapeake Medical Imaging, Annapolis, Maryland.

"We are thrilled to welcome these five exceptional leaders to our board of directors," Jessica Struve, co-executive director of the RBMA, said in a statement April 3. "Their expertise and perspectives from across different domains and regions will bring fresh insights and strengthen our mission.”

Finally, three more directors—named to the board last year—will continue in those roles for 2025-2026. Around the web

News of an incident is a stark reminder that healthcare workers and patients aren’t the only ones who need to be aware around MRI suites.

The ACR hopes these changes, including the addition of diagnostic performance feedback, will help reduce the number of patients with incidental nodules lost to follow-up each year.

And it can do so with almost 100% accuracy as a first reader, according to a new large-scale analysis.
