Casper Medical Imaging & Outpatient Radiology expands into new state

Casper Medical Imaging & Outpatient Radiology recently announced its arrival in a new state.

Based in its namesake Wyoming community, the rural private practice is now expanding eastward into Nebraska, opening a new outpatient radiology facility April 29. The center will offer same-day services and appointments, walk-in X-rays, along with MRI, CT, mammography, DEXA, ultrasound and some interventional procedures.

“Outpatient Radiology is excited to be offering high-end outpatient imaging to the community of Scottsbluff and western Nebraska,” CEO Barry Nielsen said in an announcement. “Our goal is to provide convenient and compassionate care to everyone that walks through our doors for many years to come.”

CMI noted that the new center will mean residents of Scottsbluff—the largest city in Nebraska’s panhandle, nearly 200 miles south and west of Casper—can receive radiology services without leaving the state. It also hopes the facility will reduce ED wait times while easing the burden on local providers.

Founded in 1971, Casper Medical Imaging is the only local radiology team in its Wyoming community. The practice employs nine physicians, serves one hospital, three outpatient centers and handles 150,000-plus procedures per year. CMI in 2001 partnered with Wyoming Medical Center (the state’s largest) to establish Outpatient Radiology, a freestanding center, and in 2014 joined independent practice coalition Strategic Radiology.
