Portable imaging system gains FDA clearance
Turner Imaging Systems, an Orem, Utah-based imaging technology company, has received FDA approval for its Smart-C portable fluoroscopy and x-ray system. The mobile solution is battery powered and weighs 16 pounds.
“The Smart-C will revolutionize how and where doctors use x-rays,” D. Clark Turner, PhD, founder and CEO of Turner Imaging Systems, said in a prepared statement. “We envision the Smart-C being particularly useful for humanitarian aid workers, including groups such as Doctors Without Borders. Other specialty applications will include imaging in sports medicine, especially on the field or in the locker room, in-office outpatient orthopedic surgeries, care on military battlefields, extremity injections for pain management, mobile radiology units in rural areas, emergency rooms and much more.”

Turner Imaging Systems will be displaying the Smart-C imaging system at MEDICA 2019 in Düsseldorf, Germany, and RSNA 2019 in Chicago, according to the statement.
