Cigna signs multi-year deal with Envision Healthcare to keep its 300 radiologists in-network
Imaging provider Envision Healthcare has signed a multi-year agreement with the nation’s fourth largest commercial insurer that will keep 300 of its radiologists in-network, the two said Wednesday.
The pact ensures that Cigna’s commercial beneficiaries and exchange plan members in Florida “will continue to have in-network access to Envision clinicians, including radiology services,” a spokeswoman said. This represents more than 300 radiologists, providing care at hospitals and outpatient facilities throughout the Sunshine State.
“Our continued relationship with Cigna demonstrates our long-term commitment to ensuring Florida members have access to quality, uninterrupted, in-network care,” President and CEO Jim Rechtin said in a statement. “Patients should not have to worry about seeking appropriate, affordable care when they need it most—especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.
All told, Nashville-based Envision employs more than 6,000 clinicians in Florida, including radiologists, anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, hospitalists, neonatologists, and trauma surgeons. The practice also operates in 44 other states and the District of Columbia.
Cigna was in the news recently, after it officially stopped covering most hospital-based CT and MRI exams, steering patients to cheaper outpatient imaging options.
