We set out to find radiology and imaging up-and-comers under 40 who stand out, and the Radiology Business Forty Under 40 Class of 2024 does that and more! This remarkable group of leaders are making their mark on the specialty.

They are radiologists, interventionalists, business leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, educators, AI developers, technologists and mentors. Their mission and focus is making radiology and imaging better for patients, physicians, practices, departments and healthcare systems.

The Radiology Business Forty Under 40 Class of 2024 is reshaping residency programs, optimizing outcomes, creating more dynamic and data-driven clinical departments, mentoring colleagues, helping practices cut costs, save money and thrive financially, leading large-scale research projects, creating and integrating cutting-edge AI technology, reducing radiation dosages and improving patient safety, identifying new business opportunities, working to advance gender equity, and advocating for payment reform.

This year’s honoree's are:

  • Saif Afat, PD, Dr., is managing senior physician for staff and research coordination at the Radiological Institute of the University Hospital of Tübingen and member of many German and international radiology research projects and initiatives.
  • Christian Allouche, founder of Gleamer, a company that develops AI-based radiology solutions. The company has implemented its solutions in more than 2,000 institutions across 40 countries. Gleamer received the Alexander R. Margulis Award for Scientific Excellence in 2022.
  • Daniel Arnold, MBA, founder of the podcast “The Radiology Report,” which brings together leaders and innovators in the field of radiology to discuss emerging trends, opportunities and challenges.
  • Sylvain Bodard, MD, MSc, a leading French radiologist whose pioneering work in ultrasound technology, particularly the development of sULM, has revolutionized medical imaging and transplantation science.
  • Jessica Bordeaux, MBA, Executive Director of Operations at Raleigh Radiology. Bordeaux redesigned outpatient imaging services to be more patient-focused, introducing self-scheduling, digital image sharing, and optimized workflows.
  • Julie Bulman, MD, an interventional radiologist who pioneered the first virtual IR clinic at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). Bulman also serves as the associate program director for IR residencies and regularly shares her expertise in practice management, CME and telehealth at national forums. She is the chair of the Women in IR Council of the Society of Interventional Radiology.
  • James Cassuto, MD, a nuclear radiologist who developed a highly successful nuclear medicine therapy program at Atlantic Health. Cassuto increased revenue by educating referring physicians on the benefits of nuclear medicine and participating in tumor boards to collaborate with other specialists.
  • Jennifer Clark, MSRS, RDMS, RT(R),is Program Director for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Morehead State University. Clark received the maximum award for her work coordinating an accreditation site visit and developing a new vascular sonography area.
  • Steve Coppess, MD, JD, MBA, the CEO of Heritage Imaging has spearheaded the company's rapid expansion.
  • Karlie Cornelius, MBA, has shown exceptional leadership and dedication as the Center Manager at Novant Health Imaging Piedmont. She has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to both her team and the patients they serve. 
  • Christopher (Kit) Crancer is Senior VP at Rayus Radiology and RBMA President 2023-24. He developed the Radiology Patient Action Network (RPAN), which has empowered almost 10,000 individuals to contact Congress about physician payment reforms.
  • Ally Crosby, Director of Revenue Cycle Integrations at Radiology Partners.
  • David Facchini, MBA, Director of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, Yale-New Haven Hospital. Facchini helped the department surpass its imaging volume projections and created a communication command center that transformed the way critical test results are communicated.
  • Raj Gondalia, MD, Co-Director, Interventional Services at Wake Radiology. Gondalia also serves on the executive and operations committees at Wake Radiology, and developed groundbreaking IT solutions for the practice.
  • Enhao Gong, PhD, is the founder and CEO of Subtle Medical that uses AI to enhance diagnostic accuracy in medical imaging. His company has created eight FDA-cleared AI products.
  • Vrushab Gowda, MD, JD, a radiology resident physician at Massachusetts General Hospital with a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School. Gowda is engaged at the intersection of medicine, law, and technology and how novel digital therapeutics can improve healthcare.
  • Megha Gupta, MD, radiologist specializing in vascular, breast and interventional radiology who serves rural desert valley communities.
  • Abby Hegstrand, MSN, RN, CPHQ, is the Chief Operations Officer at Advanced Radiology Services PC/Strategic Administrative & Reimbursement Services LLC.
  • Briana Houston, MBA, Director, Business Outreach, DCH Health System and previously Director of Marketing, Business Development and Provider Relations at The Radiology Clinic, LLC and Chief Growth Officer at Simplified Medical Management, LLC. Houston has developed digital marketing campaigns that have won her six national accolades.
  • Neil Huber, MBA, founder of Pulse Radiology Institute (PRI), which offers an associate degree in MRI using a hybrid approach that allows students to pursue their education regardless of location. He also founded Pulse Radiology Education, an online platform for advanced post-modality training.
  • Kayla Ledger, MHA, RT(R)(CT), is the Quality and Operations Improvement Specialist at the University of Iowa Health Care. Ledger provides support for process improvement projects, focusing on performance enhancement, patient safety, and employee satisfaction.
  • Bill Lotter, PhD, is a pioneer in AI for medical imaging, having developed AI models from the ground up that are being used across millions of patients. He is now a thought leader in the field as a professor at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. 
  • David Malinosky, MBA, is the Senior Director and Head of Strategic Physician Programs at Akumin. He is passionate about expanding community and patient care in outpatient and rural settings.
  • Robert Martin, MBA, is the Director of Project Management in Radiology Administration at Atrium Health. Martin developed a scorecard system that provides stakeholders with real-time operational health snapshots.
  • Aaron W.P. Maxwell, MD, is the Vice President of Rhode Island Medical Imaging and currently serves as the Chief of Vascular & Interventional Radiology at Rhode Island Hospital and Director of Interventional Oncology at Brown University Health Cancer Institute. Dr. Maxwell conducts research on enhancing clinical outcomes for cancer patients undergoing image-guided procedures.
  • Paige Miller, MBA, MSc Medical Imaging, is a clinical solutions consultant at Agfa HealthCare. She’s focused on transforming workflows and driving innovation through a human-centric approach.
  • Amy K. Patel, MD, is a radiologist who advocates for equitable access to breast cancer care. Patel chairs the American College of Radiology’s Radiology Advocacy Network.
  • Mital Patel, executive vice president and chief administrative officer for RadNet.
  • Soham Patel, MD, radiologist, patient-safety leader and program director for the radiology residency program at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, N.Y.
  • Joana Reis, MD, PhD, senior consultant breast radiologist at Akershus University Hospital in Norway and senior manager for digital radiology, global medical affairs, at Bayer AG.
  • Geoffrey Roche, EdD, is director of workforce development in North America for Siemens Healthineers and active supporter of nursing education and science.
  • Zachery M. Rosengarten, MD, co-founder of Diaspora Radiology, S.C., Smart Scan Medical Imaging and Smart Infusion Therapy Services.
  • Chris Swenson, MD, interventional radiologist at Advanced Radiology Services and associate program director of the Grand Rapids/Michigan State University interventional radiology residency program.
  • David Tabriz, MD, MBA, is an accomplished interventional radiologist, former Program Director at Rush University, and the current Chairman of Radiology at Cleveland Clinic Indian River in Vero Beach.
  • Virginia Tucker, MBA, is the Executive Vice President at Dexios Radiology Billing. Tucker serves on the Publications committee of the Healthcare Business Management Association (HBMA) and the Young Professionals committee of the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA).
  • Miguel Valdivia, VP Operations at Focus Medial Imaging and an MRI technologist who teaches MRI students at Casa Loma College.
  • Brian Van Eck, MBA, is the Chief Strategy Officer of Radiology Associates of North Texas (RANT). He was instrumental in building RANT’s Independent Radiology Network (IRN) and expanding its teleradiology department.
  • Kernesha Weatherly, DHA, Vice President of Imaging at Ochsner Health and strategic leader and thinker optimizing operations, improving quality and driving better outcomes.
  • Jillian P. Wright, MBA, is the CEO of Onsite Women’s Health. Wright is the first female to join Onsite’s C-suite and Board.
  • Madison Kocher Wulfeck, MD, MBA, CIIP, is a cardiothoracic radiologist who teaches residents at the University of South Florida and conducts research at Duke University.

Marty Stempniak

Marty Stempniak has covered healthcare since 2012, with his byline appearing in the American Hospital Association's member magazine, Modern Healthcare and McKnight's. Prior to that, he wrote about village government and local business for his hometown newspaper in Oak Park, Illinois. He won a Peter Lisagor and Gold EXCEL awards in 2017 for his coverage of the opioid epidemic.
