vRad Begins New CEO Search

vRad CEO Rob Kill will be out by the end of the month and the search for his replacement has begun in earnest, confirms Sandy Schmitt, senior vice-president of strategy and development at the company. “We feel really very excited about the future of vRad and really recognize the important and strong contributions that Rob made to this organization in the past,” Schmitt says. Schmitt described the shuffle as “a normal part of business” that had been announced internally at the company earlier this month. She says vRad clients have been largely understanding of the change. “I think people completely understand that CEO turnover is something that’s becoming very commonplace,” Schmitt says. “Our radiologist and hospital clients understand it very well [because] they’re experiencing it or have experienced it in their own organizations.” Aiding the transition process internally, Schmitt says, are vRad Executive Chairman Eran Broshy and CMO/COO Dr. Pat Basu, who is handling the day-to-day operations of the company for the time being. “We have a very strong senior management team, and that team is going to continue to perform just as it has in the past,” Schmitt says. vRad has contracted with an outside executive search team to find its new CEO, and the firm is already tracking “some strong candidates,” Schmitt says. She is hopeful that the company will have Kill’s replacement in place later in the year. Kill helped grow vRad into a $300 million company, and his replacement will be expected to help top the billion-dollar revenue mark, Schmitt says. “Rob took us through terrific growth, doubling the size of VRAD to a $300 million company in a short period of time,” Schmitt says. “With that comes different senior executive skill sets, and that’s what prompted the change.”
