Radiologists, urologists collaborate on voiding cystourethrogram protocols
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has announced newly established standards for performing voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG), which uses fluoroscopy to examine a child’s bladder and lower urinary tract.
Pediatric urologists base treatment plans and diagnoses on images obtained by the radiology department. The new protocols ensure uniformity in the imaging technique, set surgical indications or judge postoperative results. Establishing a Standard Protocol for the Voiding Cystourethrography, a new clinical report, will be published in the November issue of Pediatrics.
