ACR awards Northeast Radiology high distinction
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has awarded Northeast Radiology the high distinction of being a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE), according to a recent article by the NewsTimes from Danbury, Conn.
The year old program honors programs that demonstrate the highest level of imaging safety, efficiency and quality diagnostic care. Also the staff, innovative technology and equipment used are also considered.
“In our current medical environment, many patients are experiencing higher deductibles forcing them to be educated consumers in regard to their medical care. They are seeking out the highest quality and lower costs for imaging services,” Mark Glicklich, co-founder and CEO of Northeast Radiology, said in a statement. “Northeast Radiology has dedicated itself to providing outstanding diagnostic imaging services with a patient-centered focus. We are delighted to be recognized by the American College of Radiology as a pinnacle of medical imaging care.”
Northeast Radiology joins a list of nine other imaging centers in the U.S. awarded the distinction and its most recent DICOE distinction accompanies a handful of other accreditations awarded to the organization by ACR. According to the ACR website, facilities selected to receive the DICOE distinction "must be accredited by the ACR in all modalities they provide, and in which the ACR offers an accreditation program. Additional requirements include participation in the Dose Index Registry and General Radiology Improvement Database, as well as pledging to Image Wisely and Image Gently."
Benefits of the DICOE distinction include:
- Comprehensive assessment of the medical imaging facility, including structure and outcomes
- Participation in ACR registries at no cost
- Ongoing process for self-assessment
- Recognition that distinguishes your facility to providers, payers, patients and administrators
- Three-year status
- Customizable materials for local public relations and marketing
