Washington state-based Yakima Valley Radiology recently experienced a data breach, according to an alert shared March 1.
The practice traces the incident to Aug. 18, when leaders first discovered unauthorized access to its network. Yakima Valley Radiology immediately launched an investigation and consulted with cybersecurity professionals, discovering that a “limited amount of personal information” was removed from its network.
“To date, Yakima Valley Radiology PC is not aware of any reports of identity fraud or improper use of any information as a direct result of this incident,” the practice said in an announcement. “Out of an abundance of caution, Yakima Valley Radiology PC is providing notice to the individuals whose information was potentially involved.”
YVR said it is offering credit monitoring services to customers who had their Social Security number stolen in the incident. It’s also urging individuals to “remain vigilant” when reviewing statements and report any suspicious activity.
Oakland, California-based law firm Cole & Van Note, among others, issued an alert about the incident on Monday, seeking individuals interested in suing the practice. Console and Associates PC also issued an update about the incident, claiming more than 235,000 individuals were impacted. YVR employs 25 individuals and generates $5 million in annual revenue, the law firm estimated.
