Crestwood Breaks Ground on New $7.5 Million Imaging Facility

Crestwood Hospital and the city of Madison, Alabama held a ceremony on July 12, to break ground on a new $7.5 million outpatient diagnostic and imaging facility. According to the Huntsville Times, Crestwood said in a news release that the 28,000-square-foot building will offer CT, ultrasound, X-ray and digital mammography imaging services, as well as a six-bed sleep disorder clinic and physician office space. The Crestwood groundbreaking comes more than four months after the opening of Madison Hospital near U.S. 72 West and Balch Road. Crestwood initially approached state health planners in August 2002 about opening a hospital in Madison, but after five years of debate and legal wrangling, Huntsville Hospital won the right to build the 60-bed community hospital that now serves Madison, western Madison County, and east Limestone County, Alabama. The Crestwood imaging center is being developed by Birmingham-based Capital Growth MedVest, and Birmingham-based Hoar Construction is overseeing the building. The facility is expected to be completed within eight to 10 months.
