DOJ Will Not Challenge Hospital Gainsharing Proposal
The Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division will not challenge a Greater New York Hospital Association "gainsharing" program to member hospitals. The proposed program, which was reviewed by DOJ at the association's request, would distribute savings generated from reducing costs to physicians if they met hospital-specific quality standards. DOJ determined that the program complied with antitrust laws, and would unlikely affect competition.
