Most Payors Now Considering ACOs

More than 3 out of 4 leaders of payor organizations now say they are considering adoption of the ACO model, finds a new survey by HealthEdge, a provider of software platforms for healthcare payors. The preliminary results of HealthEdge's latest State of the Payor industry survey show that:
  • 76 percent of payors are considering adoption of an ACO model
  • 80 percent of payors are evaluating emerging individual exchange opportunities
  • Only 61 percent of payors believe they will be ready to meet the new ICD-10 compliance deadline
  • 52 percent of payors report that any ICD-10 delay will have limited financial impact on their businesses
The results are based on responses from more than 100 leaders of payor organizations across the country on topics of new healthcare business models, ACOs and value-based benefits, and compliance with new regulations such as ICD-10.
