Russell Branzell Selected President and CEO of CHIME

Russell P. Branzell has been selected President and Chief Executive Officer of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). Branzell will assume the role, effective April 5, 2013, and work with current President and CEO Richard A. Correll, who will transition into Chief Operating Officer of the organization. “I’ve been deeply involved with CHIME for over 15 years and have watched it become a leading source of trusted information and expertise in healthcare,” said Branzell, in the press release. “This is a critical time for CHIME to advance its leadership role; we can truly help the industry make informed decisions about deploying healthcare IT, and help the industry adapt to new pressures for reform, improved efficiency and heightened patient safety.” Branzell’s involvement with CHIME includes serving on the Board of Trustees and as chair to numerous CHIME foundations and committees. His service has garnered him several distinctions, such as the CHIME State Advocacy Award and the ACHE Regent’s Award as Young Healthcare Administrator of the Year for the State of Colorado. Branzell is currently CEO of Colorado Health Medical Group, a division of University of Colorado Health. He previously served as Vice President of Information Services and CIO for Poudre Valley Health System and the President/CEO of Innovation Enterprises. Prior to that, Branzell was Regional Deputy CIO and Executive Director of Information Services for Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, Mo.
