Sectra reinforces top standing among PACS suppliers recognized by KLAS; Fujifilm stays strong with VNA

Healthcare research outfit KLAS is out with its 2023 Best in KLAS awards recognizing excellence in healthcare software and services, and the Sweden-based imaging IT and cybersecurity company Sectra tops the field of U.S. PACS vendors—again.

It’s the 10th consecutive win for Sectra PACS among systems handling 300,000 or more studies per year.

Sectra also has prevailed among 2023 smaller PACS players—those with systems handling fewer than 300K studies—as well as in two PACS Global regions, Canada and Asia/Oceana.

In announcing the wins, all in KLAS’s Imaging Systems and Equipment category, Sectra notes its PACS presence dates to 1993 and now stretches across some 2,000 sites worldwide.

“The radiology module is an integral part of Sectra’s enterprise imaging solution, also comprising VNA and imaging modules for cardiology, orthopedics, ophthalmology and digital pathology in one single system,” Sectra points out.

Sectra EVP and president of imaging IT, Marie Ekström Trägårdh, says she is “incredibly proud that we have consistently maintained high customer satisfaction in numerous markets for so many years.”

“Our products and services are designed specifically to facilitate the important role of enterprise imaging within the health system,” Trägårdh adds. “Receiving these awards is a clear indication that Sectra’s motivated and highly skilled employees are doing the right things for our customers.”

Other 2023 Best of KLAS winners in radiology-related categories under Imaging Systems and Equipment include:

  • Image Exchange—Nuance PowerShare
  • Oncology: Radiation—Varian (A Siemens Healthineers Company) ARIA
  • Speech Recognition: Front-End Imaging—3M M*Modal Fluency for Imaging
  • Universal Viewer (Imaging)—Visage Imaging Visage 7
  • Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA)—Fujifilm Synapse VNA (TeraMedica)

Fujifilm’s Synapse VNA is also a multiyear Best in KLAS winner. The 2023 award is the product’s fourth in a row. As well, Fujifilm won a second consecutive award for Synapse Radiology PACS in Latin America.

Fujifilm Healthcare Americas senior VP of medical informatics Bill Lacy says the recognition from KLAS results “directly from customer feedback and [is] a testament to their experience.”

In announcing the results, KLAS Research CEO Adam Gale says the 2023 awards report

… highlights the top-performing healthcare IT solutions as determined by extensive evaluations and conversations with thousands of healthcare providers. These distinguished winners have demonstrated exceptional dedication to innovative solutions, proactive services and effective implementations.”
