Strategic Radiology signs on with Qure.ai

A coalition of independent imaging practices is partnering with a radiology AI startup specialized in automated interpretation algorithms.

Strategic Radiology and Qure.ai announced their collaboration June 18, suggesting the move will help Strategic’s radiologists complete cases involving lung nodules, emergency head CTs and chest X-rays with high accuracy and improved efficiency.

Strategic Radiology, or SR, counts more than 1,700 radiologists under its umbrella and believes interest is keen among many for interpretive AI that can optimize clinical workflows.

The group’s chair and CEO, Scott Bundy, MD, suggests the partnership with Qure aligns with SR’s aim to work “at the forefront of supporting private practice radiology groups nationwide through ongoing education programs, improved economics associated with greater scale and access to the latest technology innovations.”

For Qure.ai’s part, chief medical officer Samir Shah, MD, remarks that radiologists’ workload issues “continue to rise with an aging U.S. population and the ongoing need for imaging to detect disease and urgent conditions earlier to decrease morbidity. AI can significantly assist with the burden.”
