Solis Mammography partners with public health system to open community-based imaging centers

Private equity-backed radiology provider Solis Mammography has partnered with a public healthcare system to open community-based imaging centers in Florida, the two announced recently.

The partnership is with Memorial Healthcare System, which operates six hospitals in the Sunshine State. Together, they’re opening screening centers across the South Florida communities of Weston, Plantation and Hialeah.

Solis Mammography and Memorial first launched their collaboration in early 2023, with the Addison, Texas-based imaging provider assuming the management of three hospital-based women’s imaging centers. Those included two in Hollywood, Florida, and a third in Pembroke Pines.

“Convenient, community-based access to advanced mammography screening services is the key to saving more lives," Grant Davies, president and CEO of Solis, said in an April 18 announcement. “As we build on our strong alliance with Memorial to reach more women across South Florida, we'll be able to expand upon our shared mission of detecting more breast cancers at even earlier stages.”

Each of the three new centers will offer 3D mammography and convenient scheduling with flexible appointments. The locations include:

  • Memorial | Solis Mammography Weston, 4553 Weston Road, Weston, Fla.
  • Memorial | Solis Mammography Plantation, 1033 S. University Drive, Plantation, Fla.
  • Memorial | Solis Mammography Palm Springs North, 8547 NW 186th St., Hialeah, Fla.

Solis was founded in 1986 and in 2018 sold a majority stake to private equity firm Madison Dearborn Capital Partners, which has rapidly expanded the imaging group since then. MDCP estimated Solis had 50 locations at the time of the buyout, with its center total more than doubling since, up to 125 across 17 major markets. Its affiliated brands include Washington Radiology and Progressive Radiology, which were acquired in a previous M&A deal.

The company also recently announced a similar partnership with Northwest Healthcare in Tucson, Arizona.
