A former patient has filed suit against a radiology practice claiming provider negligence led to her falling from a CT scanner and sustaining multiple injuries.
Monica Lynch first visited MidState Medical Center, Meriden, Connecticut, after suffering a stroke in March 2022. However, during her examination, she allegedly fell to the floor, fracturing ribs and bones in her neck, CT Insider reported Tuesday.
Lynch and her attorneys sued the hospital and Midstate Radiology Associates last month, claiming the fall prevented her from receiving clot-busting medication to relieve effects from the stroke. Attorneys at Miller, Rosnick, D'Amico, August & Butler are accusing the radiology group of failing to secure Lynch to the scanner table and improperly monitoring the patient to prevent the fall, according to the complaint.
The plaintiffs are seeking monetary damages to cover related medical expenses, loss of earnings, restriction of her ability to enjoy life’s activities, and compensation for pain, anxiety and emotional distress.
Hartford HealthCare, with which the hospital and practice are affiliated, issued a brief statement: “The safety and well-being of our patients is the highest priority. We cannot comment on pending litigation,” a spokeswoman told the outlet.
Founded in 1955, Midstate Radiology Associates operates 20 locations across Connecticut, according to its website.
