Diagnostic Imaging Services (DIS) in Metairie, La., announced this week that it has installed the first Hitachi Medical Systems America (HMSA) Supria CT Scanner in the U.S. This new scanner has modern radiation dose-saving technologies built in and can accommodate patients of all sizes.

Michael Holmes, DIS CEO, said this installation is proof to patients that patients can find new, advanced technologies without receiving care at a hospital.

“With DIS acquiring the latest technology in CT, we demonstrate our continuing commitment to provide superior product value to health care providers and the general public, all within a freestanding outpatient imaging environment,” Holmes said in a statement. “Referrals do not need to be made to a hospital in order to take advantage of new and progressive imaging modalities.”

“We are very excited about our relationship with Diagnostic Imaging Services and are proud to see our first US Supria installation in a facility dedicated to the best patient experience, service, excellence and quality,” Sheldon Schaffer, HMSA vice president and general manager, MRI and CT, said in the same statement.

DIS is an independently-owned outpatient imaging organization with four Louisiana locations, all in the greater New Orleans area.

HMSA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Medical Corporation based out of Twinsburg, Ohio.
