Penn State student reflects on early success of concussion monitoring system
Matt Roda, a student at Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania, experienced a concussion while playing hockey in high school. Just a few years later, he developed Reflexion, a concussion monitoring system.
Penn State’s student newspaper, the Daily Collegian, ran a feature story about the early success of Roda and his colleagues this week. The story was written by journalist Giana Han. Han takes readers from the company’s beginning, when Roda first suffered that concussion, to the present, with Reflexion rapidly growing.
“Like others before him, Roda took his own, personal experience of suffering and used it as motivation to prevent others from suffering the same,” Han wrote. “However, his and his partners’ basement experimentations reached a level of success none of them could have imagined.”
