New technology takes ‘first look’ at x-rays before sending on to specialists

Imaging Advantage has joined forces with faculty from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Massachusetts General Hospital to develop Singularity Healthcare, technology that will “look” at digital x-rays before sending them on to an actual radiologist.

The Wall Street Journal wrote about the new project, examining both its beginnings and its future.

“The whole idea of deep learning is that the machine is becoming better looking at analogies,” Naseer Hashim, Imaging Advantage founder and chief executive, said, as quoted by the Journal. “If it detects a potential problem area in one patient, it will also have the knowledge, hopefully, of many more similar indications.”
