California hospital introduces new 3D breast imaging systems

The Jean McLaughlin Women’s Center at Palomar Medical Center in Poway, part of Palomar Health in California, recently unveiled two new 3D breast imaging system and one new breast biopsy system in an effort to “significantly improve” women’s health.

The machines are part of a $1.1 million investment made by the hospital and the Palomar Health Foundation to improve women’s health services. One of the machine’s donors is the anonymous widowed spouse of someone whose cancer went undetected, then turned terminal, despite getting annual mammograms.
