7 facts about RSNA 2024, which is less than 1 month away

The Radiological Society of North America’s 110th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting will begin in three weeks, with the organization sharing key facts and figures ahead of the big date.

RSNA 2024 will take place from Sunday, Dec. 1, through Thursday, Dec. 5, at McCormick Place in Chicago. The “world's premier scientific and educational forum in radiology” has been held consecutively in the city since 1985 and first used the lakefront convention center in 1975.

In a Friday update, Oak Brook, Illinois-based RSNA shared seven key stats about its big meeting (as of Oct. 21):

  1. The conference will include days of educational programs geared toward radiologists, radiation oncologists, physicists in medicine, radiologic technologists and allied healthcare professionals.
  2. There will be 702 technical exhibits occupying 409,100 square feet at McCormick Place.
  3. RSNA is expecting 121 first-time exhibitors at the meeting.
  4. Researchers have submitted 868 scientific papers slated to be presented at the meeting. Topics covered include emergency radiology, informatics, interventional procedures, neuroradiology, practice management, nuclear medicine and pediatrics, just to name a few.
  5. Over 300 educational courses and plenary sessions will be held at the meeting.
  6. Lakeside Learning Center will feature 1,548 educational exhibits and 1,761 scientific posters.
  7. Organizers also have scheduled 120 Learning Center Theater presentations.

“RSNA is committed to hosting a sustainable annual meeting,” the society—which has over 51,336 members across 157 countries—said in its announcement. “For more than two decades, we have been updating our processes and making changes to ensure the biggest week in radiology is environmentally mindful and socially responsible. Together, we can minimize our impact.”

In October, RSNA also released details about its Technical Exhibits, titled “Building Intelligent Connections.” The exhibits will occupy McCormick Place’s north and south halls and showcase a range of innovations in imaging including CT, MRI, PACS, advanced visualization, augmented reality and cybersecurity. The AI Showcase will offer attendees the chance to connect with over 100 companies, exhibiting “next level” radiology software and products.

New this year, RSNA is launching the One Day Showcase in the North Hall, featuring new exhibitors each day. This will include local Chicago attractions, startup-up companies and service organizations. Also new for 2024, RSNA will offer guided tours through the technical exhibits to allow attendees to connect with industry leaders during a “VIP look at cutting-edge technology and equipment.”
