Post-thrombotic syndrome is the result of permanent damage to the veins following DVT. The condition causes swelling, discoloration and pain in the legs and can feel debilitating for many.

Developed by a board-certified diagnostic and interventional radiologist, the platform was trained using subspecialty data that general AI applications typically lack.

The system was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in September and was adopted by the interventional team at Atlanta-based Emory shortly after.

The 1,100-square-foot space is located at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, a 583-bed acute care facility that treats 80,000 patients per year.

The completion of the first treatment represents a "significant milestone" for patients with liver cancer, the IR who led the procedure says.

CMS officially announced the move on April 6, with it applying to the Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction (WISeR) Model. 

About $10 million of the total will cover construction, with BayCare adding two new bi-plane suites at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

These charges account for a significant portion of IR expenditures, but many providers indicate they have never had formal training in charge awareness.

The American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology and others are concerned about how the two commercial insurers regulate peripheral nerve stimulation.
