HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is appointing Stephanie Haridopolos, MD, to carry out some of the functions of the “nation’s doctor," with the SG post empty since Trump took office.

ACR, the American Society of Neuroradiology, all 50 state medical societies and numerous others wrote to members of the U.S. House and Senate to express their frustrations on May 11. 

This comes after medical societies and immigration attorneys have for months sought exemptions for physicians, given widespread staffing shortages.

Representatives recently introduced the Medicare Physician Data-Driven Performance Payment System Act, drawing praise from the House of Medicine.
