Radiologist helps save cook’s life at restaurant
An off-duty radiologist in Ohio helped save the life of a cook at one of his favorite restaurants.
Scott Byrdwell, MD, was eating lunch at The Silver Spring House in Symmes Township, Ohio, when he heard pleas for help, according to a report from Fox 19 Now. A waitress was asking if anyone was a doctor, and that’s when Byrdwell stepped in.
After finding the cook passed out on the floor he immediately started assessing the situation and got to work.
“I’m thinking this is a serious situation,” he said, as quoted in the report. “So, I got over there to him, put him on his back, felt for a pulse. There was no pulse. So, I immediately started doing chest compressions.”
Byrdwell’s actions helped stabilize the cook until more help soon arrived on the scene. The patient is now at a rehab facility receiving treatment.
