NRC proposes revision to guidance on radioactive material administration
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has proposed a new revision to its guidance document for patients to read before and after they have been administered radioactive material.
Changes to the document, “Release of Patients Administered Radioactive Material,” include a new section on death following the administration of a radiopharmaceutical or implant, updated data about patients who are breastfeeding an infant or child at the time of administration and new recordkeeping requirements.
More information about this revision is available here. Public comments are being accepted until Aug. 26.
The Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging plans to release public comments of its own, according to a news release.
