American College of Radiology names its 2021 Gold Medalists, honorary fellows
The American College of Radiology named three physicians as its 2021 Gold Medal honorees on Tuesday, along with three more honorary fellows.
ACR plans to recognize the winners for their “extraordinary contributions to the field of radiology and outstanding service” during the college’s annual meeting in May. Here is a quick look at the Gold Medal winners:
- Cheri Canon, MD: Chair of radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, she previously served on the ACR Radiology Leadership Institute’s first board of directors and as the college’s vice president.
- Paul Larson, MD: A general radiologist, he formerly served as vice president and was a member of the ACR Commission on Quality and Safety. He was also co-chair of the Choosing Wisely Workgroup and a longtime leader with the Wisconsin Radiological Society.
- Barry Siegel, MD: A professor at the Washington University School of Medicine’s Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, he has more than 40 years of leadership experience in nuclear medicine. That includes serving as principal investigator of the National Oncology PET Registry.
The 2021 honorary fellows, meanwhile, are Michael Baumann, MD, a radiation oncologist with the German Cancer Research Center; Sneh Bhargava, MBBS, a radiologist and professor in New Delhi, India; and Fiona Jane Gilbert, MB ChB, a “world-renowned” breast imager, professor and chair of the Cambridge Health Imaging Committee in the U.K.
