Private-practice coalition adds another rad group

A coalition of autonomous radiology practices has welcomed a new practice, sustaining the multistate alliance’s member count at more than twice its original roster.

Florida-based Strategic Radiology announced the addition June 1, naming 11-radiologist Radiology Consultants of Lynchburg in Virginia as its 32nd member practice overall and its second in the Old Dominion state.

Strategic Radiology says Radiology Consultants of Lynchburg (RCL) has seen steady growth over the past 45 years. The group currently supplies subspecialty imaging reads to five hospitals while also partnering with 50-location Centra Health system, also based in Lynchburg, to operate a full-service imaging center.

Strategic Radiology chair and CEO Scott Bundy, MD, says RCL is a good fit for both parties, as the incoming practice is “focused on quality, committed to independent medicine and provides a high level of service to hospital partners, referring physicians and patients.”

RCL is the fourth practice to join Strategic Radiology this year. Other recent joins include Advanced Radiology Services in Michigan, Radiology Associates of Albuquerque and Catawba Radiology Associates in North Carolina.

Strategic Radiology launched in 2009 with 15 member practices. Its ongoing mission, reiterated in the RCL announcement, is to leverage the collective might of independent radiology practices around the U.S. to “improve quality, gain operational efficiencies and innovate the future of radiology’s private practice model.”
