Radiologist breaks ground on $250M medical campus that includes spot for his imaging group
A radiologist has broken ground on construction of a $250 million new health campus that includes a spot for his imaging group.
John Tentinger, MD, said he has been working on the deal for about a decade, purchasing the 25-acre piece of land for $5.5 million through his company, K&J Properties, in 2021. Dubbed the “Total Health Experience” and located in Urbandale, Iowa, north of two interstate highways, the campus will be geared toward preventive and diagnostic services.
“I want people to think about their health before they get sick,” Tentinger told the Des Moines Register in a report published Aug. 2.
The radiologist grew up in Urbandale and is owner of both the Advanced Medical Imaging physician group and the Innovative Radiology outpatient center. His company provides diagnostic imaging services to Broadlawns and Pella Regional Medical Center, with the main building slated to house Innovative Radiology. There, they will provide MR, CT, PET, ultrasound, mammography and X-ray services, the Register noted.
Altogether, the campus spans 25 acres and will encompass nine medical buildings also offering primary, urgent and subspecialty care. One year ago, Tentinger made his case for why he believes this facility is needed.
“Des Moines, in my opinion, is underserved for medicine, in general,” he said in June 2023. “There are extended wait times for imaging services, sometimes making patient’s wait over two to three weeks for examinations, even for things such as mammograms and breast biopsies.”
