ONC Introduces New Website

The U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has launched www.healthIT.gov, a new website intended for use by health care providers and consumers. The site provides information for healthcare professionals and organizations planning to migrate from paper-based to electronic health record (EHR) systems and to qualify for receipt of Meaningful Use stimulus funds. Answers to questions about patient privacy issues relating to EHRs are featured as well. Other components of the website include a basic explanation of health IT, how it can benefit patients, and how patients can protect their privacy and security. A list of the most frequently asked questions by patients is also included in the content.
