The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and the eHealth Initiative (eHI) have issued the "HIE Guide for CIOs." The Web-based guide is intended to assist CIOs in achieving Meaningful Use with health information exchanges (HIEs). Developed through research conducted with CHIME CIO members who possess practical HIE experience, the content covers how to assess the local HIE landscape, considerations in forming an enterprise health information organization, and selecting an external health information organization.
