Premier Imaging Ventures Spins Off Support Entities, Creates New Venture

Premier Imaging Ventures of Columbus, Ohio has spun off several of its support entities, creating a new venture to be known as Lucid Radiology Solutions. Lucid's mission entails empowering regional radiology groups with technology and insight that will increase the strategic value of their radiology practices. "When we talked with our colleagues at other practices we found that they share the same challenges in delivering quality care efficiently, but many are behind the curve on being able to implement necessary practice overhauls,” said Mark Alfonso, MD, president of Riverside Radiology and Interventional Associates and chairman of Lucid. “Lucid consolidates our …software, technology, and support assets into a new company, allowing us to offer cost-effective, large scale improvements to other groups” that cannot afford to do the same from scratch. Lucid will be unique in that it is the first organization of its kind dedicated solely to regional radiology excellence, Alfonso says. Core to the Lucid offering is the RadAssist(TM) application, which brings complex multi-site worklists into one window pane with no manual routing resources required. It allows disparate dictation systems to be combined into one workflow, eliminating the need for multiple passwords/logins to different systems. "RadAssist provides a more flexible and customizable workflow, because we break down all of the data collection into its most fundamental form,” noted Ron Hosenfeld, Lucid’s chief technology officer. "We have data elements from RIS, HIS, dictation systems, EMR, scheduling systems, multiple PACS and modalities, all feeding a rich Lucid database that delivers on-demand relevant information as needed." RadAssist has been in heavy clinical use for more than one year and has managed more than one million exams across 14 hospitals and 20 outpatient facilities. Lucid Radiology Solutions will be introducing and demonstrating its products and services at RSNA 2011, November 27 to December 1 at booth #2532, South Building, Hall A, at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.
