Bruker Buys, Re-Brands Micro-CT Maker SkyScan
Instrument manufacturer Bruker Corporation is entering the micro-CT business with the purchase of micro-CT makerSkyScan NV, a deal that is expected to net Bruker some $13 million in revenue through the end of 2012 alone. Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.
SkyScan will be re-branded as Bruker microCT NV but will continue to retail its micro-CT technologies under the SkyScan brand at its current location. Bruker plans to supplement its purchase by investing in additional micro-CT technologies and facilities.
SkyScan says its micro-CT devices “can be configured for numerous applications in materials research and in the life sciences, including in vivo preclinical animal imaging, in vitro bone and soft tissue imaging, [and] 3D imaging of electronic components.”
