Optimal Radiology Names New CEO
The national radiology practice Optimal Radiology has brought industry veteran Joseph “Joe” McDonough, formerly of Soteria Imaging Services, on board as the firm’s new chief executive officer.
This is the first major management change for Optimal since it relocated its headquarters to Nashville, Tenn., earlier this year.
“Optimal is emerging as a clear leader in the imaging industry,” stated McDonough in the press release announcing his move to Optimal. “I’m excited to work with the board and executive team as we chart a course for continued growth in the rapidly changing imaging industry.”
McDonough was CEO of Soteria Imaging Services from 2007 to 2013, and president and CEO of IRG/American Imaging Management from 1997 to 2001. Under McDonough leadership, IRG grew into the second largest independent radiology benefit company in the country.
Currently, Optimal has more than 100 radiologists who interpret in excess of 2 million exams annually. It serves hospitals, health systems and independent radiology groups with on-site physician coverage, management and business development support, and around-the-clock access subspecialty radiologists.
