Shawn McKenzie

Shawn McKenzie has over 30 years experience in healthcare, progressing from Caregiver and Administrator, and up through Directorship. He began his career in the US Air Force as a Radiologic Technologist, and then transitioned to the private sector and worked in Radiology and Cardiology. He ultimately served as Director of Radiology and Cardiology for several hospitals, including an area trauma center. All of these helped shape him into a thought leader who creates sustainable healthcare delivery models. In early 2000, Shawn was selected to spearhead a major Clinical IT implementation for Sutter Health, a large Independent Delivery Network in Northern California. Shawn pioneered a new methodology with Sutter Health, and brought the Clinical perspective to the forefront of the implementation. This proved to be among the most successful enterprise system implementations for Sutter Health. Shawn is the founder of McKenzie Stephenson, now Ascendian, and has successfully guided and grown the company since its inception in 2004. He is an accomplished pilot who has earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a focus in Healthcare Administration, and wrote his graduate thesis on sustainable healthcare delivery.
