US isotope manufacturer takes step toward production
SHINE Medical Technologies is moving its headquarters from the Madison area to Janesville, WI. All employees will relocate to the new building, and continue preparing for the construction of SHINE’s radioisotope production facility.
SHINE is part of a National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) program to create domestic radioisotope manufacturers, implemented in preparation for the October shutdown of the National Research Universal reactor in Ontario. SHINE is among a handful of grant recipients and has received more than $16 million from the NNSA since 2010.
The Janesville construction permit for the radioisotope manufacturing facility was approved in Feburary and is planned to begin in 2017.
