More surgeries successful due to 3D printing
It's been 10 years since Rochester's Mayo Clinic created its very first 3D model of a liver. Since then, the healthcare titan has expaned its portfolio by creating models of organs, vasuclar systems and bones.
These models have helped surgeons to answer the unknowns before operating and better understand the extent of what's going on inside of patients' bodies.
Surgeons look at 2D images, MRIs and CTs prior to creating their models, and for the Mayo Clinic, its four industrial 3D printers in the Department of Radiology can go weeks without stopping.
