Healthcare Administrative Partners’ Clinical Analytics Innovation Receives Industry Recognition
Media, PA, November 6, 2017 – Healthcare Administrative Partners (HAP), a provider of comprehensive revenue cycle management solutions for specialty physician practices, was recently selected to be one of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's (IHI) storyboard presenters at the 2017 National Forum on Quality Improvement in Healthcare. The conference, which runs from December 10 –13, is expected to attract over 5,000 industry experts to Orlando, FL, to connect with colleagues and gain actionable strategies for improving quality in healthcare.
HAP’s submission, entitled “Process Improvement for Follow-up Radiology Report Recommendations of Lung Nodules,” will be presented by Sharon Taylor, Chief Clinical Informatics Officer, during the event’s Storyboard Reception on Tuesday, December 12. Ms. Taylor will discuss the critical patient care gap that inspired the solution, the development challenges overcome during beta testing with the physicians of Radiology Group of Abington (RGA), and the quantifiable improvements in patient outcomes realized following live deployment.
Commenting further on the need behind the innovation, Ms. Taylor states that, “Across the healthcare system, patients with incidental lung nodule findings are too often falling through the cracks and not getting the follow-up screenings required for effective care. Our client, Dr. Philip Lim and his colleagues at RGA, recognized this issue as a true opportunity to benefit patients and advance the quality improvement goals at the core of the value-based care concept. Working closely with their team, HAP developed a custom application and business process for radiology practitioners that mines available data, identifies patients with incidental lung nodules in need of a follow-up, notifies them and their primary care physicians at condition-specific intervals, and measures process efficacy via executed screenings and captured patient condition status.”
Dr. Lim, Chair of Radiology at Abington Hospital, Jefferson Health, states that, “This integrated analytics and communication process more than doubled the prior rate of patient follow-ups, well surpassing industry benchmarks, while adding a missing care coordination component for an at-risk patient population. We’re all very excited by the results to-date, and by HAP’s development plan to expand the solution to encompass similar critical patient conditions.”
HAP’s President, Jane Knox, states that, “The terms ‘quality’ and ‘value’ are now very familiar to providers in the current era of healthcare reform. But turning these concepts into achievable objectives, including the specific measures associated with them, requires concrete actions on the part of physician practices and their business partners. HAP is committed to supporting our clients in these critical areas now, and into the future, via our Clinical Analytics services. We’re honored that our lung nodule follow-up process, the first of many planned solutions to be deployed by HAP in the coming months, was recognized by the IHI in this way. Our gratitude extends to our client partners at Radiology Group of Abington for their help in bringing this potentially life-saving solution to market.”
