Wisconsin Senate to hear breast density notification bill

The Wisconsin Assembly has approved a bill that would require providers to notify women if they have dense breast tissue. It is now headed to the Wisconsin Senate.

The bill is intended to help patients make better choices with breast imaging exams as cancer can be more difficult to detect in women with dense breast tissue. State Sen. Alberta Darling, R-River Hills, a breast cancer survivor, is a co-sponsor of the bill.

At present, 32 states have dense breast legislation. A federal bill was introduced to Congress in November 2017.
