Jury recommends radiology practice pay $1.5M in malpractice suit
A jury has recommended that Radiology Associates of Roanoke in Roanoke, Virginia, pay $1.5 million to a patient who underwent a CT scan in August 2016 and was allegedly misdiagnosed, resulting in a burst appendix just a day later.
According to a report in The Roanoke Times, the patient originally filed the lawsuit in early 2017, seeking $2.25 million.
The civil trial began Feb. 12, and jurors received the case Friday. The defense now has 30 days to file post-trial motions.
