Raj Gondalia, MD

At Wake Radiology, where over 60 radiologists serve patients across 14 locations in North Carolina's Research Triangle region, Dr. Raj Gondalia plays a pivotal role on both the Executive Committee and the Operations Committee, in addition to serving as chair of Radiology at UNC Rex Hospital. He helps shape the long-term vision of the practice while ensuring its smooth daily operations.

Dr. Gondalia has been instrumental in modernizing interventional radiology at Wake Radiology. He has successfully expanded the outpatient Interventional Radiology (IR) lab and consistently maintains high standards across a wide range of procedures. His dedication to collaboration is evident in his role as a trusted consultant for both colleagues and referring clinicians.

He says he believes that effective patient care begins with listening and thus he engages patients in meaningful conversations, personalizing procedural plans for each patient. This patient-centered approach enhances the patient's overall experience and leads to improved clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Dr. Gondalia continually seeks to innovate in both clinical and administrative domains. His contributions to Wake Radiology include IT solutions and operational optimizations. He developed software that enhances the integration of electronic medical records (EMR) with the picture archiving and communications system (PACS), significantly improving workflow efficiency. He also is involved in the implementation of leading-edge AI solutions. He also co-founded a start-up company, which features an innovative patient-facing reporting tool that translates complex radiology reports into understandable language for patients.
