Cook Medical Launches Fully-Retractable Embolization Coil
New Orleans-based Cook Medical took the opportunity of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) meeting to introduce its new fully-retractable .035 inch embolization coil for peripheral arterial and venous embolization.
The coil will be marketed as the Retracta,™ a name that highlights that the coil can be placed and detached with relative ease because the detachment zone is visible with imaging and, if the physician is dissatisfied with the positioning of the coil in the vessel, he or she can retract the coil in the catheter and reposition it.
“When trying to control bleeding, precise coil placement is critical in embolization procedures,” said Andrew Conder, senior global product manager for embolization at Cook Medical in the press release. “The Retracta is simple and affordable, and gives physicians control over placement.”
