FUJIFILM, Nuance To Deliver Integrated Reporting Solution
FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A. and Nuance Communications yesterday announced the formation of a partnership to sell Nuance’s dictation systems to FUJIFIM’s established radiology customer base. The two companies have also agreed to collaborate on product development, a move they claim will result in the creation of higher-caliber,more consistent reports in less time.
With the new agreement in place, radiology practices, imaging centers, and hospitals that already utilize Fujifilm’s Synapse ® technology will be able to purchase Nuance’s PowerScribe 360 radiology speech recognition platform directly from Fujifilm. This will simplify the acquisition, implementation, and service of customers’ radiology dictation systems, according to the manufacturers. Fujifilm teams have already received product training on the PowerScribe 360 and are prepared for rollout.
Meanwhile, the collaboration and feedback-sharing called for under terms of the agreement will result in a “truly integrated” product offering when the radiology reporting platform is employed in tandem with Synapse PACS and Synapse RIS, state Jim Morgan, vice president, medical informatics, FUJIFILM Medical Systems U.S.A., and Janet Dillione, executive vice president and general manager, Nuance Healthcare. Speech-enabled reporting, dictation, and data analysis will occur in a single step rather than in three separate steps, as has previously been the case. The end-result, Morgan and Dillione state, will be increased efficiency in diagnostics and reporting as well as access to more quantifiable data and, in turn, enhanced patient care.
