Health Care Sector Hiring Remains on Growth Curve
Health care is healthy. The U.S. health care workforce continued to grow faster than any other economic sector last month, even as the unemployment rate held steady at 9.1%, reveals new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
A total of 44,000 jobs-- more than one third of the 103,000 non-farm positions added—are in the health care field.
The ambulatory health care services sub-sector, which includes such entities as physicians' and dentists’ offices and diagnostic laboratories — gained 26,000 jobs. A total of 13,000 jobs were added in the hospital sub-sector.
Moreover, the U.S. Department of Labor Department predicts that health care will grow faster than any other industry through 2018, largely because of the aging population.
