Just 12% of ACR Members Contribute to RADPAC
In the Board of Chancellors report to members at the ACR’s Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference, Paul H. Ellenbogen, MD, FACR, BOC chair, highlighted the low percentage of members who contribute to the organization’s political action committee, RADPAC, as an opportunity for improvement.
RADPAC is advocating for several legislative issues that impact radiologists, including removing the multiple procedure payment reduction (MPPR) on the professional component of diagnostic imaging and fixing the high assumed utilization rate for imaging equipment. (Read more.) This year is expected to be quite legislatively active because it is between elections so lawmakers are more focused on passing legislation and less focused on campaigning. With many key Medicare reimbursement-related issues in the mix, Ellenbogen remarked that, ideally, 20 percent of ACR members should be donating to RADPAC. Currently, just 12 percent do.
