Radimetrics, Montage Form Technology Partnership
Radimetrics, a Toronto, Canada-based provider of radiation dose monitoring and management software, and Montage, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based provider of software for radiology data mining and performance measurement, have formed a technology partnership aimed at offering tools that combine radiation dose monitoring capabilities with radiology search and data mining.
The integration of the companies’ software solutions yields new options for searching, displaying, and reporting on the contents of radiology reports and associated radiation dosage data. Radimetrics’ technology enables “at-a-glance” visualization of single organ, whole body, and time-cumulative dose information. Under the umbrella of the agreement, practitioners will be able to readily access information on subgroups of patients and exams retrieved via Montage's search, patient timeline, and analytics solutions.
Eliot Siegel, MD, Professor and Vice Chairman at the University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Radiology and chief of radiology and nuclear medicine at the Veterans Affairs Maryland Health Care System, said in a statement that such tools aid in substantial reduction of radiation exposure while permitting health care providers to respond more rapidly and effectively to patients’ needs.“This capability is especially important among subsets of patients who are vulnerable because they are subject to multiple, repeat CT exams, such as young patients with Crohn's disease or kidney stones," Siegel noted.
Demonstrations of the technology will be available at the vendors' booths during the Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), slated for McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois from November 27 through December 2.
