Radiology Field Donated $113,150 to Super Committee Members in 2010
With tremendous political power concentrated in the 12 members of the Congressional "super committee" tasked with cutting as much as $1.5 billion from the Federal budget, having an established political relationship with super committee members may be one of the few ways interest groups have to influence the outcome of the committee's budget cut recommendations.
ImagingBiz analyzed data from opensecrets.org and found that groups with "radiology" in their names had donated a total of $113,150 to nine of the 12 super committee members. Accounting for just over half of these donations was the American College of Radiology, which gave $60,500 in 2010 to eight legislators who would be named to the super committee.
The following graphs are based on data from opensecrets.org. The "Total" figure only includes donations by organizations and practices with "radiology" in their names. The actual total amount of donations made by groups in the field of radiology may be greater than the total represented here.
