vRad Expands Patent Suit Against Competitors
Lawyers for Minneapolis-based Virtual Radiologic (vRad) have amended the company’s patent-infringement complaint against Tandem Radiology, Direct Radiology and Imaging Advantage to also include an additional recent patent.
On September 12, vRad and its subsidiary, NightHawk Radiology Services (NRS) changed their suit against the companies to also include patent No. 8,515,778. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
vRad is seeking to stop Tandem Radiology from marketing a software platform it says infringes on five of the company’s eleven U.S. patents, and to stop Direct Radiology and Imaging Advantage from using the Tandem Radiology platform for teleradiology services. In addition, it is seeing monetary damages from the companies.
However, Direct Radiology for one said that it plans to vigorously fight the allegations. (Read more here.)
